Rod McKuen 是位詩人、詞曲創作者、歌手。他在某次前往法國旅遊時和 Jacques Brel 結為好友，後來他將 Jacques Brel 的很多歌曲改填英文歌詞並灌唱，成為在英美地區，甚至在全世界都很紅的歌曲。

除了這首 If You Go Away 之外，世界名曲 Seasons In The Sun 其實也是 Jacques Brel 的作品 (原曲是 Le Moribond)，Rod McKuen 將之改填英文歌詞，最後由好友 Terry Jacks 演唱的版本成為走紅的世界名曲。

Springfield 本就屬中低音域，這首歌在主歌時更是一路往下探底越唱越低，但即使低沉時聲音依然厚實穩定，Springfield 怎麼就是有辦法唱的這麼迷人啊！

但 Springfield 其實也可以唱蠻高的，而且在中低音時她有時會帶沙啞，唱高時聲音反而變得比較乾淨，Windmills Of Your Mind 即是最佳例證，真是獨特的嗓音。
