Jeff Wayne 是美國紐約人，但他的作品大多在英國發表，他創作、製作了很多英國音樂劇、電視節目、廣告的配樂。Jeff Wayne 最有名的作品便是這張 The War of the Worlds，取材自英國科幻小說家 H. G. Wells 的同名小說，用音樂敘述這本小說的故事。

這專輯音樂風格根基於前衛搖滾，融入大量管弦樂及優美的旋律，非常流暢；從頭到尾屢屢出現的中快版節奏更令此專輯簡直像是迪斯可，稱之為前衛搖滾好像太艱澀了，此專輯實在很好吞，當作流行樂即可。

請注意，此專輯耗時甚久：當年這是雙LP專輯，共四面；後來CD時代是雙CD，共兩面。播放的是完整的 Disc A，長達四十幾分鐘，大概會聽到麻痺吧，哈哈！

其動感節奏及管弦樂感覺好像 Jeff Wayne 的 The War of the Worlds，台灣的布袋戲跟70年代英美搖滾送作堆，真是亂點鴛鴦譜。
